ADMISSION GUIDELINES

As a general policy, applicants who comply with the university admission requirements and meet the following College’s admission criteria may be admitted to the College:
- Graduates of Senior High School who belong to a STEM strand may be admitted to the regular four-year programs of the College. They will be ranked based on the criteria below:
Average Grade in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics (85%)
Average Grade in English (15%)
Total (100%)
Only the top 90 applicants to the BSCE program and the top 60 applicants to each of the following programs: BSChE, BSEE, BSECE, BSME, BSPkgE and BSSE will be admitted. Applicants who do not qualify to the program they initially applied for will be recommended for admission to other programs where slots are still available.
For evaluation purposes, please email to engineering.admission@cpu.edu.ph a clear scanned copy or photos of Grades 11 and 12 Report Cards two weeks before the start of enrollment period.
- Graduates of Senior High School who belong to a NON-STEM Strand and LIFELONG LEARNERS (those who have not gone through Senior High School) may enroll in the five-year Bridging Program.
* The Bridging Program. This program requires a minimum of 25 students in order to be offered as a regular class, otherwise, it will be offered as a special class. Students under this program,
- may enroll the following subjects : PE, NSTP, RE, CPU SEAL, and Other General Education Subjects in addition to the required bridging subjects**
- must pass all bridging subjects** on first take only, otherwise, they will be disqualified to continue with the program
- who pass the four bridging subjects** may continue in the five-year Bridging Program the following Academic Year.

RETENTION GUIDELINES
(Effective First Semester AY 2018-2019)
The following guidelines shall apply to all engineering students in order to qualify for re-enrollment in the College:
- 1. Have passed at least 60% the total number of units taken during the school year ( 2 semesters and one summer (if applicable) )
- 2. Have passed any same subject no more than three attempts
- 3. Have no more than 9 accumulated grade deficiencies (failure, dropped, left and lapsed INC )
- 4. Upperclassmen who have gone beyond the limits set forth in 1,2 or 3 but were already been classified as fourth year
ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR SHIFTING STUDENTS
Rev 1.0, Effective First Semester SY 2021-2022
Shifting Student is a student enrolled at Central Philippine University who wishes to shift from one program to another
- I. SHIFTEES FROM ONE ENGINEERING PROGRAM TO ANOTHER ENGINEERING PROGRAM
- a. he/she has not failed more than two subjects in the previous engineering program that are also required in the program he/she wishes to transfer into
- b. he/she has a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in the previous terms prior to shifting and
- c. slots are still available
- II. SHIFTEES FROM NON-ENGINEERING PROGRAM TO AN ENGINEERING PROGRAM
- 1. A student shifting from a non-engineering program to an engineering program with STEM background in Senior High School may be admitted if
- a. he/she has not failed any subject in the previous course that is also required in the program he/she wishes to transfer into
- b. he/she has a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 in the previous semester/s prior to shifting.
- c. slots are still available
- 2. A shifting student with a NON-STEM background in Senior High may be admitted to an engineering program if he/she has not failed any subject in the previous course that is also required in the program he/she wishes to transfer into. He/She will follow the Bridging Curriculum.
ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS
and BACHELOR DEGREE HOLDERS FROM OTHER INSTITUTIONS
(Effective First Semester AY 2018-2019)
ADMISSION
Transfer students or Bachelor Degree Holders may be admitted to the College of Engineering provided that they meet the following requirements:
- 1. They must be incoming first, second or third year students only
- 2. No record of following grade deficiencies from previous institution
- 2.1. Have failed more than 40% of the total number of units taken during a school year (2 semesters and one summer (if applicable)
- 2.2. Have failed any same subject more than three times
- 2.3 Have more than 9 accumulated grade deficiencies (failure, dropped, left and lapsed INC )
- 3. Have passed the College Admission Examination. A non-refundable examination fee shall be charged.
SUBJECT ACCREDITATION
- 1. Subjects taken by transfer students with an engineering course may only be credited if the subjects were taken from a CHED-recognized institution or its equivalent for foreign students.
- 2. Subjects taken and completed but without satisfying the prescribed prerequisite/s shall not be given any credit regardless of the grade obtained.
- 3. Only non-technical subjects shall be credited for transfer students with non-engineering course. Furthermore, the student shall be classified as a freshman.
- 4. Subject accreditation shall be based on subject content and the number of units earned. Certified true copy of subject content from previous institution shall be required.
